This experiment was carried out to investigate the influence of temperature, GA, and ABA treatments on the flowering and flower stalk elongation of Cymbidium goeringii. The percentage of flowering was only 20% when heating started on 4 November, but flowering was 100% when heating started after 25 November. Moreover, as heating (high temperature) date was delayed, days to flowering were shortened and flower stalk elongation was enhanced. The effects of cooling (low temperature) treatment on flowering were also investigated at regular intervals. The percentage of flowering was nil when cooling treatment started on 2 August regardless of cooling periods. On 2 October, flowering was 20% after 6 weeks of treatment at 2¡É, and 40% after 8 weeks of treatment. However, flower stalk elongation was not evident. On 2 November, it was 100% with only 2 weeks of treatment at 2¡É or 4¡É. Also, when the cooling period became longer, the days to flowering was shortened and flower stalk elongation was increased. As a result of analysis of GA-like substances in leaf, pseudobulb, flower bud, and bract, retardative activity in December and stimulative activity in March were high, respectively. When ABA (100 §·¡¤L^(-1)) and GA (500 mg¡¤L^(-1)) were treated to flower bud, ABA retarded the growth of first node, but GA stimulated the growth of second node. Also, flower stalk elongation was affected by kind of growth regulator which was treated at the last.
